Zero Mostel starred as Bloom with Carroll O'Connor as Buck Mulligan, Bea Arthur as Bella Cohen, Anne Meara as Mrs. Breen, and John Astin in several small parts, including that of Philip Beaufoy. Next month Dark Horse comics will publish a potentially fascinating new graphic memoir entitled Dotter of Her Father’s Eyes. A collaborative project by Mary and Bryan Talbot, it entwines the lives of the Joyce family with those of one of his most famous critics. Co-author Mary Talbot is the daughter of James S. Athernon, author of The Books at the Wake, and her memoir unfolds the tale of her youth in conjunction with the troubled life of Joyce’s daughter Lucia. Initial reviews as well as several sample pages from the book are available on the Talbots’ website and JJQ will publish a review of our own in the coming months.
