A new exhibition at the Rosenbach Museum in Philadelphia entitled “Exile Among Expats: James Joyce in Paris” is on display February 23 through August 28, 2011. The multimedia display spotlights Joyce’s years in Paris and Paris during the Joyce years. The Joyce-Paris relationship, as the two deeply influenced each other, is the focus of this exhibition, and artifacts include pages from the Ulysses manuscript, Man Ray’s iconic photograph of Joyce, selections from Ezra Pound’s Islands of Paris report in The Dial, and a first edition of Ulysses smuggled out of Paris and into the United States for Dr. Rosenbach in 1922.
