Ormond HotelEfforts are being made to secure the existence of a piece of Joycean literary history.  The Ormond Hotel, located at 12/13 Ormond Quay Upper, Dublin (the setting for the “Sirens” episode of Ulysses), is scheduled to be demolished and replaced with a new hotel and bar.  The push to save the Ormond Hotel does not wish to halt the project altogether, but proposes the city and the development company preserve the Ormond’s façade and historical “Liffeyscape” in order to maintain the site’s connection to its literary and historical past.  The group has set up an online petition that you can sign here.  The webpage also explains the petition’s specific aims and has links to other resources detailing the project and its effects on the site.
